ICP-MS Analysis
Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) can be used to screen samples for metal contamination. In a typical scan of a sample in solution, data may be collected for masses 5-250 amu over a 1-2 minute period with sensitivity in the sub ug/L range for most elements. Using this technique, Rhys Biotech offers Metal Screens to measure the concentration of up to 68 elements in a sample.
It can be used to quantitate virtually the entire periodic table excluding the gaseous elements and carbon. For health and safety purposes, unknown or unexpected elements can be identified and quantitated. For manufacturers of reagents, almost all trace metallic impurities can be determined. Exotic elements can be identified without the use of additional equipment.
Industries for ICP-MS Analysis:
- Aerospace
- Alloy producers
- Chemicals
- Environmental Water
- Environmental Wastewater
- Environmental Processing Water
- Food/beverage
- Geological
- Pharmaceutical
- Sputter targets
Uses for ICP-MS Analysis
- Bulk quantitative survey analysis of minor, major or trace constituents
- High accuracy determinations of minor, major and constituents in a wide range of materials
- Quality and process control
Below is a table of over 60 elements which can be fully quantitated, detection limits depend on sample preparations:
